Thread

designer Beth Blake exudes energy. Before starting her own line, Blake was a public relations coordinator for Chanel and a fashion editor for Vogue. In 2005, she took on designer Melissa Akey as a partner. Akey had earlier helped launch the Image Studio at Barneys.

Blake started Thread as a bridesmaid-dress collection. After achieving success with bridesmaid dresses, the duo decided to launch Thread Social —- a new line of playful cocktail dresses, psychedelic print shifts, and cute jumpers. Elle thinks Thread’s collection is just what party girls want. We agree but think Thread has some fabulous everyday dresses too.
