Our newest Swedish import, Carin Rodebjer, has been the darling of the Swedish
fashion scene since she left the hustle and bustle of New York and FIT to
start her own line in her homeland. Rodebjer has won pretty much every fashion
award there is in Sweden and is a Gen Art Fresh Faces of Fashion alum from
2005.
Rodebjer is known for strong, modern silhouettes with a distinct look. The
pieces are so unique, they almost take some time getting used to. But, once
you've tried one of her pieces, you'll understand Sweden's adoration with
the line. Her pieces have a classic bent to them-- the perfect staple sense
to mix with everything in your wardrobe but also kick it all up a design notch.
"I have always admired the classic designers who radiated elegance and dignity
and I try to treat my clothes in that same way," Rodebjer explains. Among
Rodebjer's design influences are Swedish national costumes, 1920's Parisian
bohemians, and the Finnish trash-rockers Hanoi Rocks. The collection was inspired
by the German art and architecture school, Bauhaus, with sharp and rectangular
silhouettes in a masculine color palette accented by emerald green, metallic
bronze and silver white. All of these elements add a futuristic vision giving
an intense, ultra feminine and raw sense to the collection.
Rodebjer was featured in Allure, Elle, Daily Candy, and Bon International.
